Peer Reviewers
At Global Humanities Review (GHR), the integrity of scholarly evaluation is upheld through a double-anonymous (double-masked) peer review process, ensuring that both the author’s and reviewer’s identities remain confidential throughout the review cycle. This approach safeguards the objectivity, fairness, and academic credibility of every decision made during the editorial process.
Principles of Our Peer Review Policy
1. Promoting Reviewer Independence
Anonymity allows reviewers to assess manuscripts freely and objectively. They can provide honest, critical, and constructive evaluations without concern for personal, institutional, or professional repercussions.
2. Minimising Conflicts of Interest
The double-anonymous structure eliminates bias that might arise from familiarity, reputation, or affiliation. Manuscripts are judged solely on the quality of their research, argument, and scholarly contribution.
3. Ensuring Academic Integrity
Every manuscript submitted to GHR is reviewed for originality, relevance, and methodological rigour. The process upholds the highest ethical standards and aligns with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines for transparency and responsibility in scholarly publishing.
4. Confidentiality and Ethical Compliance
Reviewer identities are never disclosed in published issues, acknowledgements, or on the website. Likewise, all submitted materials and reviewer comments remain strictly confidential and are used only for editorial evaluation.
Reviewer Responsibilities
- Provide objective, detailed, and evidence-based feedback to improve the scholarly quality of manuscripts.
- Identify possible ethical or citation issues (e.g., plagiarism, data misuse, unacknowledged sources).
- Maintain confidentiality and refrain from using unpublished material for personal advantage.
- Submit reviews within the agreed timeframe to ensure timely publication.
Editorial Oversight
The editorial team evaluates all reviewer recommendations before making a final decision. The editor-in-chief and associate editors mediate between reviewers’ comments and authors’ revisions to ensure balance, fairness, and clarity in the publication process.
Acknowledgement of Reviewers
Global Humanities Review extends its sincere gratitude to its peer reviewers, whose identities remain confidential as part of our commitment to ethical standards. Their academic expertise, integrity, and diligence form the foundation of the journal’s credibility and scholarly excellence.
